There are several species of scorpions living in Europe. The Euscorpius Italicus shown here belongs to the genus Euscorpius and is quite common in Southern Europe. They are not dangerous. Apart from the fact that they are very shy, getting stung by one of them is like getting stung by an insect - unpleasant but certainly not deadly.

My wife found tens of their dead bodies under a pile of dry wood close to a house in Città della Pieve (Umbria, Italy). I have simply put one of the better preserved bodies, about 4 cm long, on a sheet of paper and taken the photo.

In Europa vivono alcune specie di scorpioni. Il Euscorpius Italicus illustrato qui a sinistra appartiene al genere Euscorpius ed è piuttosto diffuso in tutta Europa meridionale. Non sono animali pericolosi. A parte il fatto che sono molto timidi, venirne punti è come prendersi una puntura d'insetto - spiacevole ma non certo mortale.

Mia moglie ha trovato decine di loro corpi morti sotto una catasta di legna secca vicino ad una casa a Città della Pieve (Umbria). Io ho semplicemente messo uno dei corpicini meglio preservati, lungo circa 4 cm, su un foglio di carta e scattato la foto.
